Since 2011, AMS Sustainability Projects Fund has approved over $98,000 for student projects that are sustainability-focused. The fund receives $2.25 from every student at UBC each year.
On April 4th, AMS Sustainability will be heading to the first annual UBC Sustainability Fair to chat with students about how to apply for funding, and what types of projects they’re looking for. Projects funded this past year will be presenting at the fair as well.
UBC Sustainability Fair is meant to offer a “one-stop-shop” viewing of many sustainability-related groups on campus. “After hosting a few sustainability-related events on campus this year, we found that the majority of the feedback from students was ‘How can we get more involved with sustainability on campus?’ So, we decided why not bring all of the sustainability-related groups together, so that we make it convenient for students, staff and faculty to come and explore sustainability initiatives here at UBC” says Sustainability Ambassador, Sarah Dekerf.
Special keynote guest Dr. John Robinson, Associate Provost, Sustainability and a recent TEDx speaker will talk about campus as a living laboratory and UBC’s sustainability plans from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Norm Theatre in the Student Union Building (SUB).
The UBC Sustainability Fair will be held on April 4th, 2013 from 11-3 in the SUB’s Main Concourse.
