Our lab primarily explores the effects of temperature warming on plankton and insect communities. In this presentation I will share some recent work showing that warming alters fat profiles of phytoplankton, which then affects both the productivity and evolutionary potential of zooplankton herbivores. On the insect side, I’ll share some new results demonstrating that insects grown in warmer environments have reduced flight ability and decreased pollination potential. Together these results provide a snapshot of some important effects of warming on aquatic and terrestrial invertebrate communities.
