Wed, October 2, 2013 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM IRVING K. BARBER LEARNING CENTRE. Free - Please Register. In this session, we invite those engaging in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) on campus to engage in a discussion around the research methods that we use. There has been considerable discussion in the UK of the use of randomized trials in educational research in the last year and we would like to broaden the conversation to explore commonly used pedagogic research methods at UBC. We'll begin by mapping the breadth of SoTL research as represented by those who participate; we'll then explore in greater depth a few examples that emerge from our conversation. We'll end by identifying ways that we can share our SoTL work throughout the year. You'll leave this session with a few ideas of what exists 'beyond' qualitative and quantitative methods in SoTL research, as well as a better understanding of the breadth of current UBC SoTL research methods.
Location: Irving K Barber Learning Centre - Seminar Room 2.22A
