Food, the Future, and You, presented by the UBC Centre for Sustainable Food Systems, is a food and sustainability symposium that brings together students, faculty, and staff for a dialogue about what it takes to create and manage a just and sustainable food system. Join us to celebrate the involvement of UBC students with food sustainability research, education, and community engagement.
Food, the Future, and you will embark you on a learning journey towards a resilient just food systems. With more than 20 presenters representing a diversity of background, perspectives, and expertises, Food, the Future, and You’s interactive presentation and activity style will encourage you to further connect with your own food system.
Come for the full day or only parts of it! Tickets are $12 for the general public, $6 for students. Refunds will be possible until December 26, 2016. Following this date, cancellations will be accepted, but no refund will be available.

Keynote: Jennifer Blesh
Assistant Professor in the School of Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Michigan, Jennifer uses interdisciplinary research approaches to understand how different agrifood systems impact ecological and social processes. Her ecological research focuses on soil nitrogen and carbon biogeochemical cycles, agroecosystem nutrient management, and legume nitrogen fixation.

Call for Posters
What is a sustainable food system? If your research, work, or student club is attempting to answer that question, please participate in Food, the Future, and You’s poster presentation event, January 26th, 2017, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., in the Ponderosa Ballroom lobby.
All you need is a desire to share your research and work with the larger community, a few free hours on January 26th, 2017 (4-6pm) and a poster. Plus, you get free entry to the Symposium’s full day of activities.
