Celebrate the Nobel Prize-winning contributions with UBC Okanagan Nobel Night – an opportunity to learn about this year’s prizes from a distinguished panel of UBC Okanagan professors. From groundbreaking research that reshapes our understanding of the universe, to the prohibition of nuclear weapons, to bold new thinking in economics and psychology; Nobel Night will help decipher the discoveries and achievements that have changed the world this year.
Alfred Nobel willed that his entire remaining estate be endowed “to prizes to those who, during the preceding year, shall have conferred the greatest benefit to mankind.” Named the Nobel Prizes, annually since 1901, laureates are announced for their winning contributions in one of the prize categories, physics, medicine, chemistry, literature, economics and peace.
Following, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and enjoy refreshments.
Presentations: 7 p.m.
Refreshments: 8:30 p.m.
