Do you want to learn how to prune according to professional standards or need to brush up on basic pruning techniques? This class is designed for nursery and landscape professionals and students in the trade.
Audience
The goal of the workshop is to offer practical pruning skills offered by industry experts that can be implemented right away. Proper pruning skills are vital to field crews. Improve your company’s bottom line by sending out field crews who understand the nuances of pruning.
Course Content
Class includes safety and dormant pruning lectures and trainer supervised hands-on pruning.
• Improve and practice your pruning skills
• Learn how to properly prune trees and shrubs
• Know the proper tools to use and proper safety procedures
• Identify the parts of a tree or shrub
• Identify where proper cuts should be made and the effect it will make on future growth
• Learn the difference between renewal and rejuvenation pruning
Instructor: Egan Davis is an award-winning gardener with a lifelong passion for horticulture. His diverse background includes garden design, landscape construction, botanical garden operations, and greenhouse and nursery production. He managed collections at VanDusen Botanical Garden and was the foreman at Park & Tilford Gardens. Through his outreach activities such as television, radio, print, and lectures at conferences and garden clubs, Egan has been a strong advocate for the horticulture industry. By serving on the board of directors of HortEd BC, Egan has been involved with developing industry standards and policies. He has been a leader in the industry for many years by participating in senior roles at BC Landscape and Nursery Association events.

Cancellation Policies: A $15.00 processing fee per attendee is charged if cancellation notice is less than 7 days prior to your scheduled program. There is no fee for transferring the registration to another person. Cancellations can be made online or by contacting garden.htp@ubc.ca. In the event that a program is cancelled by UBC Botanical Garden, we will offer the option of transferring to another program or obtaining a full refund.
