From your morning coffee to the shirt on your back, our world is saturated by products made by multinational corporations (MNCs). Popular culture often portrays MNCs as villains with a history of exploiting societies. But like them or hate them, MNCs are here to stay, and have worked hard at changing their image. Explore major issues related to the global rise of MNCs, and examine how they shape our daily existence, and the world around us.
Who should take this course?
This course is ideal if you’re interested in politics, business, economics, sociology, geography or anthropology.
Your instructor
ROBERT CRAWFORD, PhD, is an instructor in the Department of Political Science at the University of British Columbia. He is a past chair of Arts One, an innovative liberal arts program for first-year undergraduates. Robert’s research interests lie in international relations, political philosophy and international political economy. His publications include Idealism and Realism in International Relations (London: Routledge, 1999) and International Relations–Still an American Social Science?: Toward Diversity in International Thought (New York: State University of New York Press, 2000).
