Wed, August 29, 2018 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM BROCK HALL - WEST WING. The Bike Kitchen is open for volunteering on Wednesdays from 11am - 5pm with a midday mechanical workshop from 1pm - 2pm only for volunteers! Volunteers can drop-in at any point during the day without prior sign-up and are assigned tasks based on their previous volunteer experience, mechanical ability, and the needs of the shop at the time.
Volunteers help us to recycle damaged bikes, as well as clean and sort reusable components. Those who become proficient with recycling tasks will then graduate to refurbishing bikes for our Bici Libre and Pedals for the People programs.
Sustainability and responsible consumption are important parts of the Bike Co-op’s mandate. We want cycling to be accessible and affordable, so that everyone can cycle as a primary method of transportation. That is why we recycle and reuse bicycles – not only does it keep bikes out of the landfill, but it also enables us to build bikes out of used parts, keeping our costs low.
The Bike Kitchen is located at 1896 East Mall in a trailer between Irving K. Barber and East Mall.
