Earth Hour is set to happen March 27, 2010 from 8:30 – 9:30 p.m local time. Close to a billion people around the world will turn off their lights for one hour to demand action on climate change. Show your support for Earth Hour 2010 by helping UBC power down this weekend.
You can participate by:
Turning off and unplugging any non-essential lights and equipment before you leave work or school on Friday March 26th 2010.
TURN OFF
- lights in classrooms, labs, offices, workspaces, bathrooms and shared spaces
- computers and monitors
- printers, photocopiers and fax machines (if possible)
- non-essential equipment in labs, offices and workshops
- power bars
UNPLUG

Share what you did to celebrate Earth Hour with the 116 countries and territories pledged to support a sustainable future. Post a photo to Earth Hour’s Global Photostream on Flickr.
By working together and taking simple actions in our daily lives, we can collectively create change. Last year, UBC garnered a 3.32% reduction in consumption during Earth Hour, saving enough energy for someone to travel 336.0 km by Skytrain. Once again, we will partner with Pulse Energy, a Vancouver energy management software company to track energy use on campus throughout the weekend.
