Wed, March 18, 2015 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM FOOD, NUTRITION AND HEALTH BUILDING. Opening Reception - World Food Programme (WFP) Photo Exhibition on The Importance of Nutrition
March 18th at 5:00pm
Food, Nutrition and Health Atrium
Refreshments provided.
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) provides food assistance to more than 80 million people in 75 of the world's poorest countries each year. WFP's unique role as the UN's frontline agency addressing hunger and nutrition would not be possible without the financial support from donors like Canada.
A focus on Nutrition: Canada is a global leader in supporting nutrition around the world. These photographs and captions explain the importance of nutrition in WFP's work and show how improving nutrition - by increasing access to healthy and nutritious food - saves lives.
Shoot a 15 second video and tell WFP what you learned and how you will help. Be sure to post on Twitter with the hashtag #WFPSavingLives ...because WFP Ambassador Against Hunger, George Stroumboulopoulos, will retweet the best post!
This exhibition is part of the UBC Future of Food Global Dialogue Series, which brings together food security and sustainability experts from across North America to engage the UBC community and the public around global food security issues. The series is jointly sponsored by the Faculty of Land and Food Systems, Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability, Liu Institute for Global Issues, and the Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at UBC Farm.
