Areas of Australasia and the Okanagan are showing similar climate change impacts, particularly as they relate to changing precipitation patterns and recurring drought. The expertise of researchers from other parts of the world can help us better understand our own situation because the atmosphere and oceans are globally connected.

Visiting scholar, Prof. Jamie Shulmeister, University of Queensland, draws on his extensive research experience in paleoclimatology (the study of past climate conditions using evidence found in glacial deposits, fossils, and sediments), glacial geology, and coastal evolution to examine the history and recent evolutions of climate change in the Okanagan area, and forecast what we might expect moving forward.

There is no charge for this talk. To find out more about Prof. Shulmeister, visit: researchers.uq.edu.au/researcher/2253.
