The UBC Sustainability Initiative has launched a curated selection of climate change-related courses available to UBC undergraduate and graduate students at the Vancouver campus.

The new course listing tool responds to a strategic priority highlighted in the Climate Emergency Task Force report to, “Expand climate education opportunities and resources for the UBC community and broader public.”

The tool curates and promotes courses with climate change-related content to students from diverse faculties. Students can browse courses by restrictions (including no- to low-restriction), categories (including climate justice and social science, climate science, and climate change mitigation and adaptation), or by year of study.

Data Manager, Jen Crothers, from the UBC Sustainability Initiative, Teaching, Learning, Student Engagement team, worked with faculty across UBC to create this resource as a means of improving course access for students.

“Our sustainability course listing is long and can be overwhelming, so we decided to create an attractive and easy-to-use resource for students interested in courses with climate change content. The collection is diverse and has courses from eight faculties. We expect that the list will grow as more instructors add climate change material to their courses. We hope students find it useful!”

Students can visit Climate Change Courses to plan their upcoming academic schedules. Faculty who are interested in adding courses that address climate change can email jen.crothers@ubc.ca.
