Fri, October 26, 2012 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM UBC Robson Square. $445. Reports of soaring food prices, bacterial contaminations, rising obesity along with malnutrition, and environmental problems from industrial agriculture make us question the future of our food security, sources and systems. Consumers and policy-makers are realizing the importance of food in sustainability and human well being, creating a citizen food movement, an explosion of urban agriculture, and a desire for better food policy. This short course gives you an overview of food sustainability locally and globally, positioning current issues in larger contexts. Interactive and participatory, the sessions include a field trip, guest speaker(s), and opportunities for discussion on how to actively get involved in food.
Dates: Fri-Sat, Oct 26-27.
