Your sustainable and artistic creation could grace the walls of the New SUB.

The Alma Mater Society would like to showcase student artwork in the New SUB which engages the campus community by creating an inspiring atmosphere and promoting sustainability. Sustainability-themed art embodies the AMS’s vision for a sustainable New SUB and commitment to its Sustainability Charter. The AMS has identified three locations for sustainability-themed art in the New SUB to display three large-scale art pieces, all situated on the exterior wall of the Great Hall. Construction of the New SUB is currently underway and is anticipated to open in 2014.

In collaboration with Campus Sustainability's SEEDS Program, the AMS is looking for 3rd or 4th year students or graduate students who are eligible and interested in participating in a directed study to complete this work.

The task is to create an inspiring and engaging wall-mounted artwork piece to be displayed in the New SUB. The piece must be developed according to the following specifications:

  • Size:   8 to 10 x 10 x 4 feet
  • Materials: made from 100% recycled/reclaimed materials (the goal is zero waste, minimal footprint)
  • A plaque with your name, description of the work, and the recycled/reclaimed materials used should be provided as part of the engagement strategy.
  • A piece preferably made in modules to allow for easier installation and storage

Eligible students will be given the opportunity to present concept/portfolio to the AMS, and ultimately your art piece for final approval.
