Supported by UBC's Campus as a Living Lab, the CTMAIN project aims to investigate how the selection of urban trees based on their robustness to city living has affected local insect and microbial communities.
Student researchers led by Dr. Michelle Tseng and Dr. Tara Moreau select trees across the UBC Vancouver campus and assess the insect and microbial diversity associated with specific tree and tree traits. The project can generate valuable data on the use and effectiveness of urban trees in real-world situations for more environmentally conscious arrangements.
This research project is being done on UBC's Vancouver Point Grey campus, which is situated on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam) people.
