COVID-19 Safety Information for CIrs Events

Welcome back to the CIRS! To ensure all events are safe, CIRS has issued safety protocol in line with BC government mandated regulations.

The health and safety of our staff and all visitors continues to be of the utmost importance to us. As we begin to welcome audiences back to our venues, we are following the guidance provided by UBC and the Province of British Columbia’s BC Restart Plan.

B.C. is currently in Step 3 of the provincial restart plan and there are some restrictions in place for gatherings and events. Organized indoor events at venues that require proof of vaccination can return to full capacity unless there are additional regional restrictions in place.

  • Organized outdoor seated gatherings can be held with a maximum of 5,000 people or up to 50% of the venue's capacity, whichever is greater. Outdoor walk-through fairs and festivals like community fairs can be held at 100% venue capacity.

Businesses can find information on proof of vaccination requirements at: gov.bc.ca/VaccineCard-Businesses.

Proof of Vaccination

You are required to use your BC Vaccine Card to provide proof that you received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine for some social and recreational events, services and businesses. This applies to individuals aged 12 years and older (born 2009 or earlier).

Indoor organized gatherings

Proof of vaccination is required for organized gatherings with more than 50 people.

Seats must be provided for all people at some indoor events with more than 50 people, including:

  • Concerts, theatre, dance and symphony performances
  • Weddings and funeral receptions (outside of a funeral home)
  • Lectures, presentations and workshops
  • Recreational classes and activities like art classes or choir rehearsals

Seats are not required for all people at:

  • Conventions and trade shows
  • Conferences (except during lectures, presentations and workshops)
  • Sponsored and ticketed parties

Dancing is not permitted.

Detailed information can be found in the PHO Orders:

Getting immunized against COVID-19 by getting two doses of the vaccine is the most effective way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.

Stay home when you feel sick

If you feel sick, stay home and get tested.

If you are sick, you should not be spending time in person with others. People who have symptoms should refer to the COVID-19 testing information to determine if testing is appropriate and follow self-isolation guidelines.

Clean your hands and practice good respiratory etiquette

Bring hand sanitizer with you when you go out and clean your hands often with soap and water or hand sanitizer. Cough or sneeze into your elbow. Wash your hands before you leave your home and as soon as you return.

Masks

Wearing a mask is required in all indoor public spaces for people age 5 and up (born in 2016 or earlier).

Read about the PHO order on masks in public indoor settings.

Follow any additional measures that may have been put in place by local public health or in your health region.
